Source: Russian Telegram channels, Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region Gleb Nikitin
Details: Governor Nikitin claims, as is customary for Russian authorities during attacks by Ukrainian drones, that "only the debris of a downed drone" fell on the territory of one of the enterprises in the Kstovo industrial zone, and that this resulted in a "fire."
However, photos and videos shared on social media show a significant fire at the oil refinery.
The drone attack represents yet another attempt to strike a strategic facility of Russian industry. The plant had already been targeted in March 2024 when drones damaged one of the oil processing units.
In addition to the attack in Kstovo, reports from Russia indicate drone strikes in the Smolensk and Tver regions.
For reference: The Kstovo area hosts the "LUKOIL-Nizhny Novgorodnefteorgsintez" oil refinery, with chemical enterprises and a thermal power station located nearby in the industrial zone.
Updated: In the morning, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that they allegedly shot down 104 Ukrainian drones over the territory of the Russian Federation.
Specifically, 47 drones were reportedly shot down over the Kursk region, 27 over Bryansk, 11 over Smolensk, 7 over Tver, 4 over Belgorod, 3 each over Nizhny Novgorod and Kaluga, and 1 each over Rostov and Leningrad regions of the Russian Federation.
