The Cabinet of Ministers will allocate an additional 7.9 billion UAH for the purchase of drones.

The government has decided to allocate an additional 7.9 billion UAH for the purchase of drones. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at a Cabinet meeting on February 21.

According to him, the funds will be directed to the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection, which will handle the acquisitions.

Shmyhal emphasized that particular attention is being paid to the development of domestic armaments and the strengthening of the economy.

"In the drone segment, the share of domestic products is approaching 100%. In January 2025, the production of unmanned aerial vehicles increased tenfold compared to January 2024. Over the past two years, the output of artillery has tripled, armored personnel carriers have increased fivefold, anti-tank weapons have doubled, and ammunition has risen by 2.5 times," the Prime Minister highlighted.

He added that Ukraine currently produces about one-third of the required armaments.

"Our goal is to raise this figure to at least 50%. To achieve this, we have allocated record funds for the modernization of the defense industry and the procurement of weapons," Shmyhal concluded.
