The U.S. is considering lifting sanctions on Russia as part of peace negotiations.

The United States has indicated to Russia that it is open to lifting sanctions imposed due to Kremlin leader Putin's invasion of Ukraine as part of negotiations to end the war. This was reported by Bloomberg.

This could create another point of tension with European allies, who insist on maintaining the restrictions, the agency reports.

The U.S. State Department, in its statement following the talks in Riyadh, highlighted the potential for future economic and investment cooperation between the U.S. and Russia once the conflict concludes.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio also confirmed that the issue of lifting sanctions is part of the discussions.

"There are sanctions that were imposed due to this conflict," Rubio stated, "To end any war, all parties must make concessions."

He also acknowledged that the European Union should participate in the discussions, as the bloc's countries have also imposed numerous sanctions on Russia.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated after the meeting of high-ranking officials from both countries in Saudi Arabia that Moscow and Washington "expressed significant interest in removing artificial barriers to the development of mutually beneficial economic cooperation."

According to him, both sides have a "mutual desire to find concrete solutions" to economic issues.
