The Eastern Appeals Economic Court has ruled in favor of PJSC "Alchevsk Coke and Chemical Plant" (AKHZ), ordering the Russian Federation to pay over 927.5 million UAH in compensation for the loss of critically important company documentation.
According to the law firm "Ilyashev and Partners," citing "Interfax-Ukraine," the court made this decision on February 5. The previous ruling by the Economic Court of Luhansk Region, which rejected the claim, was overturned.
Alchevsk Coke and Chemical Plant was one of the largest enterprises in Ukraine, supplying the industry with coke. However, after the occupation of Alchevsk in 2014, the plant ceased operations, and crucial financial documents confirming claims against counterparties, including PJSC "Dneprovsky Metallurgical Plant" (DMK), were destroyed. This deprived the company of the ability to recover debts and led to significant losses.
In 2021, AKHZ was declared bankrupt, and the court initiated liquidation proceedings. In July 2024, the liquidator appointed was the arbitration manager, head of the Dnipro office of "Ilyashev and Partners," Alexander Kamsha.
