According to the Deputy Head of the Parliamentary Committee on Taxes and Finance Yaroslav Zheleznyak, the average monthly spending of Ukrainians on replenishing gaming accounts in online casinos and betting companies amounted to 12.7 billion UAH from January to November 2024. In December, this figure increased to 19.4 billion UAH.

In total, Ukrainians spent 158 billion UAH on gambling throughout 2024.

"Not everyone loses; some money is returned in the form of winnings. However, it is a sad fact during wartime that nearly 20 billion UAH a month is spent on such entertainment," Zheleznyak noted.

At the same time, the gambling industry contributed 16.9 billion UAH in taxes to the budget for the year, which is 63% more than in 2023.

It was previously reported that actual consumer inflation in December 2024 exceeded the forecast of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), and in the coming months, prices will continue to rise.
