"Dubinsky was released on bail": Social media confused the MP with a businessman from Dnipro.

Businessman Leonid Dubinsky was released on bail of 60 million hryvnias. However, Telegram channels mistakenly reported that this referred to the controversial MP Oleksandr Dubinsky.
"Дубинского отпустили под залог": в соцсетях произошла путаница между нардепом и бизнесменом из Днепра.

On bail, Leonid Dubinsky, a businessman from Dnipro, has been released after being detained in connection with the embezzlement of funds allocated for the reconstruction of the water supply system in Dnipropetrovsk region.

"The High Anti-Corruption Court has received 60 million UAH in bail for the businessman, who was recently placed under custodial detention with an alternative of posting bail," said VAKS (High Anti-Corruption Court) representative Olesya Chemeris.

Currently, as per the ruling of VAKS, a number of obligations have been imposed on Dubinsky, including the requirement to surrender his passports for safekeeping and to wear an electronic bracelet.

The NABU detained Leonid Dubinsky on January 22. He is one of the well-known entrepreneurial brothers from Kamianske, wanted for real estate fraud in the USA.

The investigation considers him the organizer of a criminal group that misappropriated funds totaling over 129 million UAH, allocated for the restoration of critical infrastructure in Dnipropetrovsk region.

Meanwhile, MP Alexander Dubinsky remains in custody.

Dubinsky Case — What We Know

On November 13, 2023, the SBU reported that it had gathered evidence to announce suspicion of treason against Alexander Dubinsky. According to the investigation, he spread fakes regarding the top military-political leadership of Ukraine, particularly about alleged interference by officials in the 2019 presidential elections in the USA.

The SBU stated that the MP, known by the call sign "Buratino," was part of a criminal organization formed by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia (GRU).

Dubinsky has been notified of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • Part 1 of Article 111 (treason);
  • Part 1 of Article 255 (creation, leadership of a criminal community or criminal organization, as well as participation in it).

On August 3, law enforcement conducted searches at the MP's residence. He was notified of suspicion of organizing illegal transportation of people across the state border. On November 6, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv placed Dubinsky under round-the-clock house arrest.

It is also worth noting that Alexander Dubinsky is suspected of document forgery for traveling abroad. He faces up to three years in prison.
