Law enforcement responded to the death of a child at a ski resort. As noted by the police in the Lviv region, a criminal case has been initiated.
"Investigators from the police station No. 3 of the Stryi District Police Department, under the procedural guidance of the Stryi District Prosecutor's Office, have opened a criminal case under paragraph 2 of part 2 of Article 115 (intentional murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, with the designation 'accident'," the press service reported.
They added that during the pre-trial investigation, law enforcement will check, in particular, compliance with the management's requirements regarding the rules for the arrangement, safe operation, and maintenance of ski slopes.
According to law enforcement, the incident occurred on January 8 at around 14:30 at one of the ski complexes in the Stryi district. It is reported that a 13-year-old boy from Kyiv arrived at the complex with his family. While skiing down the slope, he miscalculated his speed, lost control, and crashed into a net that indicated the direction. Afterward, he fell onto the snow, sustaining a head injury.
Medics stationed at the complex provided assistance to the boy. However, he died at the scene from the injuries sustained.
The incident took place at the "Plai" ski resort. The child suffered a traumatic injury, meaning injuries resulting from a fall from a height exceeding the injured person's height. Despite performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation for up to 40 minutes according to protocols, the child's heart could not be restarted.
Recall that on January 2, a fire broke out on the 3rd floor of a five-story residential building in the Khadzhybei district of Odesa due to an explosion of a washing machine. As a result of the tragedy, a child was injured.
It was later reported that in Kyiv, a man with a child in his arms beat a dog to death. He is likely facing several years in prison.
