At midnight on Wednesday, January 8, the emergency services received a report of a fire that occurred in a multi-apartment residential building on Onokovska Street in Uzhhorod. This was reported by the main department of the State Emergency Service in the Transcarpathian region.
Residents of the building raised the alarm when they smelled burnt fabric coming from a neighbor's apartment. While some called for help, others assisted the man in extinguishing the flames.
The fire was managed to be localized by the residents themselves before the arrival of the fire and rescue teams, after which the room was left with heavy smoke.
The confused owner explained that the fire was caused by an old gas stove in the kitchen. He had placed his pants there to dry and went to rest. As rescuers noted, he could not realize that only the timely response to the situation saved him from toxic smoke poisoning.
Recall that on January 2, a fire broke out on the 3rd floor of a five-story residential building on Ivan and Yuriy Lip Street (formerly Haidara) in the Khadyzhibey district of Odessa. It turned out that a washing machine caught fire and exploded in the apartment.
In October, due to a forest fire that started from the village of Rubtsy in the Donetsk region, about 1100 wooden houses in the village of Peski-Radkovski were destroyed. Four people were burned alive, and two others suffered burns.
