The Minister of Health of Ukraine, Viktor Lyashko, announced that as of January 1 of this year, the regulations governing paid services in hospitals have changed. He made this statement during a working visit to the Ternopil region, reports "Ukrinform."
According to the official, paid services were available in Ukrainian hospitals prior to this, but the new resolution effective January 1 introduced several modifications regarding the regulation of these paid services.
"Starting from January 1, we have updated the resolution that governs the provision of paid services in hospitals. New classification codes have been introduced to identify interventions that are not covered by the Medical Guarantee Program," Lyashko noted.
The Minister indicated that the health ministry will analyze the popularity of paid services utilized by the public on an annual basis. Additionally, the Ministry of Health and the budget committee of the Rada will seek funding to make several paid services free for Ukrainians, thereby reducing the list of paid services.
Lyashko also emphasized that under the new changes, each hospital that has a contract with the National Health Service will have coverage for such payments through the Medical Guarantee Program. This way, ordinary Ukrainians will be able to see which paid services are not covered by state payments.
We also reported that in Lviv, a paid ambulance call has been introduced. The cost will depend on the distance — within Lviv, the team will arrive for 1000 hryvnias, while a call outside the city will cost between 2,000 and 3,000 hryvnias.
