During the period of martial law and mobilization in Ukraine, women and men, guardians, custodians, foster parents, and adoptive parents raising a child with a disability under the age of 18 are entitled to a deferment from mobilization. The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine has provided information on how to apply for this deferment.
To obtain a deferment, an application must be submitted to the territorial center for staffing and social support. The application should be addressed to the chairman of the commission. Supporting documents that confirm the right to deferment or copies of such documents, certified either personally or notarially, must be attached to the application.
List of documents needed for obtaining a deferment
The application for a deferment and the documents must be reviewed within 7 days. If the commission sends requests to government authorities to confirm the right to deferment, a response must be provided no later than the following day from the date the information was requested. The deferment for caring for disabled children remains in effect until the end of martial law or until the child's disability status is revoked.
It is important to note that, according to legal advice, the deferment from mobilization must be renewed. In case of delay, the citizen may be mobilized.
Recently, the Ministry of Defense explained what to do if "Reserve+" does not process the deferment. The agency noted that a specific algorithm of actions should be followed.
