Another instructor from the Kyiv National University of Theater, Cinema, and Television named after Ivan Karpenko-Karyy has been accused of harassing students. According to NV, the individual in question is Yuriy Vysotsky, an associate professor at the II Department of Acting and Drama Directing.
Graduates of the institution, actors Serhiy Volovets and Ostap Vakulyuk, shared on social media about the outdated teaching methods of the honored arts figure, which "instilled fear even after graduating from university."
"Several graduates, including myself, were invited to a non-state theater. It was an interesting production with roles dissected in detail, performed several times, and I invited Yuriy Filippovych to our show — after all, he is a master. My colleagues almost assaulted me for such a move. Even after leaving university, graduates fear their master. Such is his powerful teaching methodology," — writes Serhiy Volovets.
He stated that the demands on female students to lose or gain weight or comments about the talentlessness of certain students were "ordinary conversations during the educational process."
"From time to time, Yuriy Filippovych would choose a favorite student for the rehearsal day and sit her next to him. During the presentation [of the sketch] or in discussions, there would be outbursts of emotional surges accompanied by placing hands on the girl's knees or strong hugs. The girl at that moment would show signs of dissatisfaction, but she couldn't express it openly," — noted the actor, calling Vysotsky's behavior "dirty and disgusting," but according to him, students were unable to complain about such actions.
Later in private conversations, the girls admitted that it was disgusting and repulsive, but they couldn't find a way to address it, Volovets added.
Ostap Vakulyuk, who studied alongside Volovets, confirmed the harassment allegations.
"Thanks to my classmate who first spoke out about Vysotsky's teaching methods, which included harassment. During classes, there always had to be some student sitting next to Yuriy Filippovych, or better yet, several, whom he could allegedly demonstrate how to touch a leg or hug around the waist," — he wrote.
Vakulyuk added that he experienced humiliation from Vysotsky during his studies, enduring constant fear, tension, and degradation over the years. However, while studying in Poland under the renowned director Krzysztof Zanussi, he returned on vacation and went with his sister to his Alma mater, where they encountered Vysotsky, about whom he had told her so much.
His sister was determined to confront Vysotsky about his teaching methods, but Ostap, fearful, stopped her by tightly gripping her hand.
"Even after no longer being a student of Vysotsky, living a thousand kilometers away from him, studying in another country, and pursuing a different specialty, I still subconsciously feared him; he still 'lived' in my head," — he recalled.
Recall that in 2021, a sex scandal involving a lecturer named Volodymyr Talashko occurred at the Karpenko-Karyy University. Female students accused him of inappropriate behavior.
