In the residential area "Raduzhny" in the Dnipro district of Kyiv, animal protectors and police rescued a cat that had been trapped in a locked apartment for six days without food or water. The cat's owner was detained on the street by a patrol from the Territorial Center for Staffing (TCK). His phone was taken away, preventing him from calling anyone, and he had no chance to ensure that the cat was not suffering. The details of the animal's rescue were shared by volunteers from the "Zoopatrol UA" community on their Facebook page.

The message from "Zoopatrol UA" appeared online on January 8. Volunteers received information about a cat left alone in an apartment. Initially, neighbors heard it meowing but then suddenly fell silent. Concern grew among the residents, especially since it was unclear when the owner would return. Animal protectors and law enforcement were called to the apartment. With permission from the owner, who they managed to contact, they broke the lock and entered the apartment. Within moments, they found the animal—a ginger cat that had gotten stuck in a window on the balcony. It was rescued and handed over to the caretakers, as noted in the report.

An animal protector who joined the rescue held the animal close during the journey to the clinic, noting that it was a first for him. The cat was dehydrated and hungry, and it was so nervous that it couldn't eat, the rescuers shared. Currently, it is being fed via an IV drip, and they hope to find a new guardian with the old owner's consent.

"Dmitry Revnyuk mentioned that this was perhaps the first cat he couldn’t place in a carrier. The cat hugged him with its paws, nestled its face against him, and began to purr loudly. They traveled to the shelter in this embrace," wrote "Zoopatrol".

A one-and-a-half-minute video shows the rescue process. The explanation from law enforcement can be heard, stating that it is not allowed to break into someone’s apartment. They also noted that the situation would have been even worse if a child had been left alone inside. Finally, permission was obtained, and the cat, which had spent six days in solitude, was found. It seems that after being freed from the window, the animal bolted and had to be caught and pulled out from behind the furniture. We then see attempts to feed the emaciated animal, which turned away from the food.

"Thank you to the guys, thank you to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, you are true heroes. We came from Raduzhny—he clung to me," can be heard in the video from Dmitry.

On the Facebook page of the Kyiv regional TCK and SP, there are no comments regarding the incident with the cat that spent six days hungry, as the owner was given neither time nor opportunity to care for the animal.

It should be noted that on January 9, the Kyiv city prosecutor's office reported an incident of dog beating in the capital. According to the agency, a man brought a stray dog home and then beat it to death. The suspect was arrested for 60 days and faces imprisonment for a term of five to eight years.

We remind you that there was a case in Kyiv involving a deaf dog that was beaten by its owner right on the street, in front of passersby.
