A deputy of the Keretskovsky village council in Transcarpathia, who carried out a terrorist act in a government building on December 15, 2023, was sentenced to life imprisonment. This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine on Friday, November 22.
The SBU did not disclose the name of the deputy, but it is evidently Sergey Batrin.
According to materials from the SBU and the Transcarpathian regional prosecutor's office, he detonated three RGD-5 and F-1 fragmentation grenades in the session hall of the village council.
As a result of the explosions, 26 individuals were injured. Two of them later died from their injuries: one the following day and the other a month later.
The investigation established that the deputy meticulously prepared for the crime. He utilized connections in criminal circles to acquire the grenades and stored the explosives in his own home until the meeting.

The investigation was conducted by SBU investigators in Transcarpathia under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office.

According to journalist Vitaliy Hlahola, on the day of the terrorist act, Sergey Batrin aimed to become the community secretary, but was not supported by other deputies.
