Operation "GUR-CAT": Scouts evacuated 15 cats from Snake Island (photos included).

With the onset of winter chill, the lives of cats and kittens living on Zmiinyi Island became extremely difficult. To rescue these animals, the fighters of "Timur's Special Unit" from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine conducted an extraordinary operation and evacuated 15 cats to the mainland of Ukraine. This is reported by the GUR MO.

All the rescued animals were taken to the "Sirius" shelter, one of the largest in Ukraine.

After their adaptation, anyone interested will be able to become a guardian of one of the legendary cats from Zmiinyi by contacting the "Sirius" shelter, which is directly involved in adoptions.

This case is not unique: Ukrainian soldiers and volunteers have repeatedly saved animals in the challenging conditions of war.

For instance, during an operation in the Kharkiv region, the military from the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade rescued two owlets found in a destroyed house. The birds were handed over to the head of the GUR MO of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, who is known for his love of animals.
