A deputy from Kirovohrad has been suspected of arranging the purchase of substandard clothing for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigations (DBR) and the National Police have reported suspicions against a deputy from one of the local councils in Kirovohrad region and his accomplices, who organized the procurement of substandard clothing for military personnel. This was announced by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigations. The mastermind behind this scheme was a deputy from a local council in Kirovohrad region, who also served as the owner and director of a company. Upon learning that a series of clothing purchases for the military were planned in Kherson region, he sought to profit from them. He involved an acquaintance, whom he appointed as the director of another controlled company, along with an accountant. The individuals purchased cheap, low-quality clothing without the necessary certificates confirming compliance with the requirements of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The goods only visually resembled military uniforms. As a result, the state incurred losses exceeding 21 million hryvnias. Currently, the deputy, his accomplice, and the accountant have been notified of the suspicion. The authorities are determining the appropriate preventive measures and ensuring compensation for the damages incurred by the state. The potential punishment includes imprisonment for up to 12 years with confiscation of property. It is worth noting that the Bureau of Economic Security in Poltava region uncovered the head of a company involved in the embezzlement of over 43 million hryvnias of budget funds.
