Employees of the State Bureau of Investigations and the National Police reported suspicions against a deputy from one of the city councils in Kirovohrad region and his accomplices, who organized the procurement of low-quality clothing for the military.
According to the press service of the State Bureau of Investigations,
the organizer of this scheme was a deputy from one of the city councils in Kirovohrad, who also served as the owner and director of one of the enterprises. Upon learning that a series of clothing procurements for the military were planned in Kherson region, the official decided to "profit" from it.
He involved an acquaintance in the deal, appointing him as director of another controlled enterprise, along with an accountant.
The suspects purchased cheap, low-quality clothing without proper certification that met the requirements of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The goods only visually resembled military attire. This resulted in a loss to the state exceeding 21 million hryvnias.
Currently, the deputy, his accomplice, and the accountant have been informed of the suspicion. A decision is being made regarding the imposition of a preventive measure and the assurance of compensation for the damage caused to the state.
It is expected that the punishment may include imprisonment for up to 12 years with the confiscation of property.
