On the night of December 31, Russian forces launched an attack on Ukraine using drones and missiles. The details were shared by the press service of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
From 8:30 PM on December 30 to the morning of December 31, Russia launched:
Ukrainian air defense forces managed to shoot down one "Dagger," five X-69 missiles, and 16 "Shaheds." Additionally, 24 drone imitators were lost locally. Ballistic impacts were recorded in Sumy and Kyiv regions.
"Despite the New Year's spirit, we urge citizens not to ignore air raid alerts. Take care of yourselves and your loved ones," the Armed Forces urged.
Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration Sergey Popko reported debris falling in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv. Three private buildings and two cars were damaged, but there were no casualties.
The Kyiv Regional Military Administration informed that air defense forces were active in the region and targets were shot down. The region was attacked by both drones and missiles.
As a result of the debris falling, a private house was damaged in one of the settlements in the Kyiv region. Windows were shattered and the roof was damaged.
As a consequence of the attack, a 49-year-old woman was injured in the region. Doctors diagnosed her with a concussion and acute stress reaction.
The head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Vladimir Artyukh, reported that on the night of December 31, the enemy launched 13 missiles at Shostka — nearly half of all that had hit the community over the year.
Four missiles targeted the city's infrastructure at 3:00 AM, and another nine at 8:00 AM.
On social media, users noted that Shostka experienced a "terrible night and morning."
Recall that on the evening of December 30, a fatal car accident occurred in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. A BMW veered into oncoming traffic, resulting in the death of the driver and all four passengers.
The Special Operations Forces reported that Ukrainian troops advanced into the Kursk region of Russia and captured a settlement previously held by North Korean soldiers.
