World boxing champion and Olympic champion Oleksandr Usyk fulfilled his promise made prior to the Paris Olympics by awarding $100,000 to Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Khizhniak, who won gold at the competition. A video of the presentation of the funds was shared online.
Oleksandr Usyk emphasized that he kept his word and personally paid Oleksandr Khizhniak $100,000 for his "gold" at the 2024 Olympic Games (even though he initially promised $80,000).
"As I promised before the Olympic Games, the equivalent of $100,000 has been credited to this ready-to-pay card. The Olympic champion is here. Alex, thank you, dear, for your 'gold', for your hard work and dedication. You deserve more — this is just a small part of what we can do today," said the Ukrainian champion.
Oleksandr Usyk encouraged young people to engage in sports and promised a similar gift to whoever wins at the next Olympic Games.
"Get involved in sports, train hard, and work. If you win the Olympic Games in Los Angeles, you will receive the same," he stated.
Recall that on August 8, Ukrainian boxer from Poltava Oleksandr Khizhniak became the Olympic boxing champion in the under 80 kg category. In the final of the 2024 Olympics, he defeated the reigning world champion from Kazakhstan, Nurbek Oralbay. This was the first gold medal for Oleksandr Khizhniak himself.
