In Ukraine, an abnormally warm winter continues, with January failing to bring snow and frost. However, the situation is set to change soon. Meteorologist Natalia Didenko shared a detailed weather forecast for January 10.
This weekend, a long-awaited cold snap will hit Ukraine. On January 11 and 12, temperatures will finally drop to "minus" levels. Nighttime temperatures will range from -4 degrees to zero, while daytime temperatures will be between -1 and +3 degrees.
Warmth will persist only in the southern and eastern regions. There, on January 11, unseasonably warm "plus" temperatures will linger, but by Sunday, the cold will reach those areas as well.
Precipitation is expected overnight on January 11 and on Saturday morning. Rain and wet snow will occur in the north and central regions. By daytime and evening of the same day, precipitation is most likely in the east and locally in the west.
Kiev will not be an exception, as the capital will also experience a wave of cold. The city will find itself "behind" the cold atmospheric front of cyclone Charly.
During the weekend, temperatures in Kiev are forecasted to be between -4 and -1 degrees at night, and from zero to +2 degrees during the day.
The weather will mostly be cloudy, with wet snow expected tonight. On January 11, it will be dry during the day, while Sunday may see occasional light wet snow.
Next week, Ukraine will experience cool temperatures. However, Didenko urged not to expect severe frosts. The average European winter continues.
