In Ukraine, the power outage schedules are not influenced by the drop in outdoor temperatures but solely by the consequences of the Russian Armed Forces' attacks on Ukraine's energy system, which occur on a daily basis. This was stated by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Herman Halushchenko, during a conversation with journalists, writes RBC Ukraine.
"The only factor that affects the situation is the aftermath of the attacks. Unfortunately, these attacks happen every day. On Sunday, we unfortunately lost a significant amount of generating capacity, which will take time to restore," he said.
The minister noted that there are currently considerable damages to energy facilities that require repair, but overall, Ukraine's energy system is functioning satisfactorily.
"In the past few days, there have indeed been many damages. We do not provide detailed information. Overall, the system is operational; today, we are not restricting domestic consumers at all. There are certain temporary measures in several regions concerning industry, but the system is functioning, and I am confident that we will emerge from this heating season as victors," Halushchenko emphasized.
Recall that the Russian Armed Forces struck the city of Izium in the Kharkiv region with a ballistic missile. As a result of the attack, five people were killed, and over 20 were injured.
It was also reported that the city authorities of Kharkiv are trying to obtain special permission to change the air raid alert system. Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov explained that in less than a third of the cases, the siren indicates a real threat.
