"Not a market, but a farce": Gerus criticized the decision to conceal data on electricity trading.

The decision by the state-owned company "Market Operator" to stop publishing information about electricity trades on the "day-ahead" market and the intraday market undermines the credibility of changes in the energy sector.
"Закрытие данных о торгах электроэнергией - это профанация, а не рынок", - заявил Герус, критикуя отсутствие прозрачности в данной сфере.

The head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy and Housing and Utilities, MP Andriy Gerus ("Servant of the People"), stated this during a Committee meeting on January 6.

"I feel morally pressured in this situation. We can adopt the most correct laws, but then they can be discredited at such a level. We can pass ten laws stating that we have a European market, European rules, but in reality, everyone sees that this is a farce, not a European market. We need to be honest, first of all with ourselves and with others as well," Gerus said.

He supported the proposal of the first deputy head of the Energy Committee, Oleksiy Kucherenko ("Fatherland"), to summon the head of the Market Operator, Oleksandr Havva, for explanations regarding such a decision before the deputies.

"I support this; let’s invite the head of the 'Market Operator' for Thursday. Maybe we’ll do part of it without broadcasting if there’s something confidential," the Committee head added.

Reminder:

The Market Operator has been closed to trading data on the electricity market since December 30.

The Ukrainian Energy Exchange reported that the information is being closed due to the order of the Minister of Energy No. 27-dsk (for official use) dated December 27, for the duration of martial law and until the last day of the month following the month of termination or cancellation of martial law.
