New details have emerged regarding the shocking murder of a grandfather by his teenage granddaughter in Dnipropetrovsk region.

The tragedy that unfolded near Kryvyi Rih has left a profound impact on the hearts of its residents. A 76-year-old man, described by locals as calm and harmless, became a victim of a brutal murder, allegedly committed by his 17-year-old granddaughter, Svitlana, according to investigators. This was reported by "Vydamo," referencing "Suspilne Dnipro."

The police of the Kryvyi Rih district have opened a criminal case and are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this shocking crime. Preliminary investigation data indicates that on February 2, a conflict erupted between the grandfather and granddaughter, escalating into a horrifying act.

The young woman inflicted dozens of stab wounds on her grandfather using a kitchen knife.

A local resident, Mykola, who knew the deceased well, describes him as a peaceful man who frequently visited his grandchildren. He emphasizes that the family of the arrested girl had a mixed reputation.

Another resident, Oleksandr, portrays Svitlana as a girl with an unstable psyche, prone to self-harm and aggression. He notes a long history of family conflicts, marked by alcoholism and violence, in which Svitlana was raised. According to him, the girl's mother struggled with alcohol abuse, providing minimal attention to her children's upbringing, while her father passed away several years ago. This environment of constant stress and chaos, Oleksandr believes, had a devastating effect on Svitlana's mental health.

Valentyna Likhanska, a representative of the village council, confirmed that the family had lived in the village of Veseloe for about 20 years and that after her husband's death, Svitlana's mother raised five children alone without seeking assistance from social services.

She also confirmed that Svitlana has a mental disorder and is registered as a disabled person.

Currently, Svitlana's mother is being sought by law enforcement, and the youngest child has been taken by a sister living in Kryvyi Rih.

The police have already seized the murder weapon—a kitchen knife—and are conducting a comprehensive forensic examination.
