According to the UN, as a result of the full-scale war, over 12,000 Ukrainian civilians had died by November. More than 26,000 have been injured. The actual losses are much higher, as it is currently impossible to assess them due to the occupation of territories. "Slovo i Delo" created an infographic detailing the most significant and bloody terrorist attacks by Russia over the 1000 days of war.
In 2022 and during the full-scale war in general, the deadliest attack by the Russian Armed Forces was the strike on the drama theater in Mariupol. The tragedy occurred on March 16, and the exact number of casualties remains unknown. The building has since been demolished by Russian occupiers. Official authorities estimated that about 300 civilians perished, while eyewitnesses reported a figure twice as high.
On March 1 and 29, the enemy targeted the administrative buildings in Kharkiv and Mykolaiv. In Kharkiv, 29 people lost their lives, and 35 were injured. In Mykolaiv, the death toll reached 37, with 36 people injured.
On April 8, the Russian Armed Forces launched a "Tochka-U" missile with cluster munitions at the railway station in Kramatorsk. At the time of the strike, people were waiting for an evacuation train. Reports indicated 31 fatalities and over 120 injuries.
On June 27, Russia carried out a missile strike on the Amstor shopping mall in Kremenchuk. The attack with X-22 missiles resulted in 21 deaths and 59 injuries.
On July 14, the occupiers launched missiles, including "Kalibrs", at Vinnytsia. The House of Culture "Yubileyny," office buildings, a medical center, and the Officers' House were damaged. The death toll amounted to 28, with nearly 200 injured.
On August 24, the Russian Armed Forces attacked the Chaplyne station in the Dnipropetrovsk region, through which an evacuation train was passing. As a result of five missile strikes, 25 people lost their lives, and another 31 were injured.
On September 30, a humanitarian convoy in Zaporizhzhia came under missile fire from S-300 rockets. The death toll was 32, with 86 people injured.
On January 14, a Russian missile destroyed two entrances of a high-rise building in Dnipro. A total of 46 people died, and 80 were injured.
On April 28, two X-101 missiles struck a 9-story building in Uman. The death toll was 24, with 17 people injured.
On June 27, enemy "Iskanders" attacked a popular pizzeria in Kramatorsk, with the strike reportedly corrected by a local resident. Thirteen people died, and 63 sustained injuries.
As a result of shelling of residential buildings in Lviv and Pokrovsk, a total of 20 people were killed, with the number of injured exceeding one hundred.
On August 19, the Russian Armed Forces struck the historic center of Chernihiv with an "Iskander-K," damaging the drama theater building. Seven people lost their lives, and the number of injured surpassed 150.
On September 6, the central market in Konstantynivka in the Donetsk region was hit. The shelling resulted in 17 deaths and 36 injuries.
On October 5, the occupiers killed 59 residents of the village of Groza in the Kharkiv region, who had gathered for the memorial of a serviceman in a café. The establishment was destroyed, and given the small population of the area, one in four residents perished. The spotters were two locals.
On October 29, as a result of a massive shelling in Kyiv, 33 people died, and another 30 were injured.
Additionally, on June 6, the Russian Armed Forces blew up the dam of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station in the Kherson region. This caused an ecological disaster, with reports of over 30 casualties.
In March, the occupiers struck residential buildings in Odesa twice. As a result of the shelling on March 2, 12 people died, while the number of casualties on March 12 reached 21. Over 80 Ukrainians sustained injuries.
On November 18, ballistic missiles were launched at Odesa, leading to 10 fatalities and dozens more injured. Residential buildings, administrative buildings, and a university were affected. The Air Force explained that an "Iskander-M" was intercepted, but debris fell in the Primorsky district.
On April 17, "Iskanders" struck Chernihiv. Hospitals, universities, and residential buildings were damaged. The death toll was 18, with 78 people injured.
On May 25, the Russian Armed Forces attacked Kharkiv, resulting in 18 deaths and 54 injuries. Residential buildings, "Epicenter," and the central park were under fire.
On August 9, the occupiers hit a hypermarket in Konstantynivka. Fourteen people lost their lives, and 44 were injured.
On July 8, Russia launched a massive shelling of Ukraine, partially destroying a five-story building and the children's hospital "Okhmatdyt" in Kyiv. In the capital, 33 people died, and the number of injured exceeded 120.
On September 3, enemy ballistic missiles targeted an educational institution in Poltava, partially destroying one of the buildings of the Communications Institute. The death toll was 59, with 328 people injured.
On November 18, the Russian Armed Forces attacked a dormitory in Hlukhiv in the Sumy region with "Shahed" drones. Twelve people were killed.
It is worth noting that on November 19, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the 1000th day of the full-scale war in Ukraine. He published a video about what Ukrainians have endured over these nearly three years.
Near the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in World War II, an event called "Light a Flame" was held. At the foot of the "Motherland" monument, one thousand candles were lit in memory of all the fallen.
