In the video from the scene, one of the men is referred to as "Rashik." His name is Dmitry Rashevsky.
Following the full-scale invasion of the Russian Armed Forces, the man voluntarily went to the front lines. He participated in operations and assaults, but in 2023, he was wounded during reconnaissance near the Russian border.
Media outlets shared photos of Rashevsky's awards — the "Defender of Ukraine" medal and the badge for "Defense of Kyiv and Kyiv Region." It is also noted that he is a sports master in Muay Thai and has previously faced legal issues.
1 2On November 23, it was reported that "Rashik" got involved in a domestic dispute with a drunken group, allegedly municipal guards from the Odesa region. When the fight escalated, he first fired a warning shot, and then shot to injure.
On November 25, the Kyiv police press service reported that a quarrel broke out between two groups at the hotel, and one of the men fired several shots at his opponents. A 27-year-old Ukrainian died on the scene, while his companion and a security guard sustained injuries.
3The police arrested one of the brawl participants, a 29-year-old native of Dnipropetrovsk region, at the shooting scene. He is suspected of hooliganism. The shooter fled and evaded capture for some time; he is suspected of intentional murder and hooliganism.
4 5The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office informed that the suspect of hooliganism will be under round-the-clock house arrest. The shooter has been taken into custody. The preventive measures will remain in effect until January 21.
Recall that the shooting occurred in the early hours of November 23, shortly after midnight. The hotel security guard and another victim sustained chest injuries.
On November 28, the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office reported that they had charged a man who attacked TCK employees with a knife. Noticing the soldiers, he approached and started arguing, soon resorting to death threats.
