A third-grader from Cherkasy region built a plane using an engine from a captured Russian drone (video).

A student from the "Young Modeler-Constructor" club in the village of Pyschane, located in the Cherkasy region, nine-year-old Denys Puz has built a functioning model airplane. The engine was taken from a trophy dron-kamikaze that his father brought back from the front, as reported by Suspilne.

Ukrainian soldiers captured a Russian drone and gifted it to the children. Later, a speed controller and a propeller were found for it.

According to his teacher, Roman Semak, who is a former military pilot, in 20 years he has encountered a boy with such skills for the first time — in just one year of classes, he has mastered what older children learn over several years.

The boy placed his first model on the wing just a week ago, but it is already too cold to fly outside, so he is honing his piloting skills on a simulator.

"At first, it's difficult, but then you get the hang of it and it's fun to fly. Inside the little airplane, there is equipment. There is a transmitter. You give a command — send it to the airplane — and we take off," Denys shared.

The knowledge that children gain in the club is considered by the teacher to be an educational foundation that will definitely be useful in adult life.

As a reminder, high school students from Chernihiv developed a device that helps detect drones within a radius of up to five kilometers. The students worked on their invention for almost a year, creating it based on the Ukrainian drone detector "Tsukorok," but enhanced the device with artificial intelligence.

Last year in Smolensk, Russia, young craftsmen created a copy of the Ukrainian drone "Bobr" and launched it in the city. The drone frightened locals and alerted the security services.
