Turkey has decided not to lift the ban on the operation of Russia's "Mir" cards.

The Russian ambassador in Ankara, Alexey Erkhov, stated this in an interview with the Russian propaganda outlet "RIA Novosti," according to Liga.net.

He mentioned that there are no prospects for unblocking the cards and advised Russians traveling to Turkey to rely on cash.

In September 2024 the Turkish authorities announced that they are not discussing the resumption of the Russian payment system "Mir" in the country.

Since the beginning of 2024, Turkish banks have started to refuse to process payments from Russia.

The Russian authorities attempted to negotiate with Ankara; however, by the beginning of autumn, almost all banks in Turkey decided to stop servicing transactions related to Russia and Belarus.
