Participant of the 13th season of the show "The Bachelor" and blogger Anastasia Anisimova faced backlash after revealing on air that she has a disability group. The girl wrote about it on her Instagram.
The blogger recounted that she was subjected to hate after she admitted in the third episode of "The Bachelor" that she has a second disability group.
"After this episode aired, I received a lot of offensive comments from people who have a distorted understanding of the term 'disability.' Many found it funny that a visually healthy girl said she has a second-group disability, even though no illness or physical defect should be ridiculed or devalued," — wrote the show participant.
The girl explained that she has Addison's disease, also known as adrenal insufficiency or "bronze disease," due to the change in skin color. In simple terms, this condition occurs when the adrenal glands do not produce the stress hormone "cortisol," the deficiency of which negatively affects the overall health, causing a person to "waste away before your eyes."
"Therefore, one should never judge a person's health solely based on their appearance and devalue someone else's suffering. I strongly advise everyone to read books on biology and anatomy because knowing your body is very important," — wrote Anastasia Anisimova.
The participant was criticized online after she confessed to the bachelor during a date that she has a second disability group due to a rare condition—adrenal insufficiency. The participant stated that she has had this diagnosis since childhood, and it was difficult to diagnose. The bachelor, Alexander Teren, jokingly remarked that many are now pursuing a disability group just to obtain one.
Let us recall that blogger and host Marichka Dovbenko accused the show "The Bachelor" of sexism. The participant of the 13th season shared various situations during filming on her YouTube channel "In Bed."
