Ukraine may face power outages soon: an expert has outlined the timeline for when scheduled power cuts could be implemented.

According to Yuri Korolchuk, the capital is conserving gas. As a result, people are turning on heaters, which is putting a strain on the electricity supply. Under these circumstances, power outages are likely to be expected soon.
Эксперт предупредил, что Украина может столкнуться с отключениями электроэнергии, назвав возможные сроки введения графиков отключений.

In two weeks, electricity consumption in Ukraine is expected to rise, leading to potential power outages during this period. This was noted by energy strategy expert Yuriy Korolchuk during a broadcast on "News.LIVE."

"How close are we to outages? Very close. In fact, in about two weeks, I think we can say that electricity consumption in Ukraine will increase due to the heating season," — he explained.

According to the expert, gas is being conserved in the capital, which is why they plan to turn on heating later.

"That's probably a good idea because we need to save gas, as the situation with gas transit is uncertain, and we need to figure out how to ensure our supply after the transit is cut off," — emphasized Yuriy Korolchuk.

He pointed out that in this case, the load will shift to electricity, particularly for heaters, which may lead to power outages.

"They won't be significant; it's not like it will be 12-hour outages as previously predicted, but until the frosts begin—around minus 10 degrees at night and a stable minus 5 during the day—we won't see those 12-hour outages. However, under such conditions, yes, longer outages could start. It will vary by region," — the expert noted.

It's important to mention that emergency power outages have already been implemented in the Poltava region. Schedules of 30 MW will be applied for consumers as per the order of "Ukrenergo."

According to Victoria Voititska, Director of Advocacy in the Energy Sector at the International Center for Ukrainian Victory, avoiding power outages in Ukraine is not possible. Regardless of whether critical infrastructure is attacked, power outages are inevitable.
