The Ukrainian state budget has received $235 million in concessional financing from the Japanese government as part of new systemic projects of the World Bank. This was reported by the Ministry of Finance.
Under the project "Sustainable, Inclusive, and Environmentally Balanced Entrepreneurship" (RISE), Ukraine has received a $130 million loan. The project aims to address critical issues that hinder resilience, growth, and sustainable development in the private sector.
An additional $105 million has been allocated through the project "Increasing Access and Resilience of Education in Crisis Conditions in Ukraine" (LEARN). The main goal of the program is to enhance the educational process in Ukraine during martial law by creating safe and comfortable conditions for educators and students.
Since February 2022, budget support attracted through World Bank mechanisms from Japan has amounted to approximately $6 billion, said Finance Minister Sergey Marchenko.
The implementation of projects is carried out using the Program-for-Results (PforR) financial instrument. This means that the allocated funds are a result of Ukraine meeting certain criteria.
