In Ukraine, the grant program "Own Business" is in effect for veterans and families of combat participants. In total, participants will receive grants amounting to 540 million UAH. This was reported by Tatiana Berejna, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine.
According to her, 82 veterans and their spouses have been recognized as winners in the nineteenth round of grant applications for veterans in 2024. They will receive 42 million UAH to start or develop their businesses.
"We already have 1,150 winners in the veteran component of the 'Own Business' program, who will receive grants to start or grow their businesses. Thanks to this financial support, 70% of them will be able to scale their operations, increase production volumes, and acquire new areas of activity, while 30% of grant recipients will start their own businesses from scratch. Overall, the state is investing 540 million UAH in the businesses of veterans and their family members through grants. By developing their businesses, veteran entrepreneurs will also create over 2,000 jobs across all regions of the country," noted Berejna.
The Ministry of Economy stated that among the 82 winners of the nineteenth round of grant applications, 47 are combat participants, and 35 are family members of veterans. Additionally, 68 winners will receive grants of up to 500,000 UAH, 7 will receive grants of up to 250,000 UAH, and 7 will get up to 1 million UAH.
It is noted that the highest number of grant recipients comes from Kyiv, Khmelnytskyi, Lviv, and Poltava regions. The most popular sectors where grant recipients plan to develop are wholesale and retail trade, processing industry, temporary accommodation, and food organization.
The Ministry of Economy stated that, according to the program's conditions, combat participants or individuals with disabilities due to war, as well as their spouses, can receive the following grants:
It is highlighted that the last grant is provided with co-financing from the recipient at a ratio of 70/30, meaning the grant recipient must invest 30% of their own funds into their business, while 70% will be provided by the state in the form of a grant.
The Ministry of Economy stated that applications for grants are submitted through the "Diia" portal along with a business plan. The program is administered by the State Employment Service.
Earlier, it was reported that the number of bankruptcies in Ukraine has sharply increased. The highest number of bankruptcies is concentrated in large cities and industrial regions.
