Ukrainian forces captured an enemy BMP submerged underwater: details and video inside.

Recently, soldiers from the 106th Battalion of the 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade "Steel Lions" shared details about a unique special operation in which they managed to retrieve a Russian infantry fighting vehicle from underwater, near the front line. The vehicle had been submerged since 2022 and was left there by the Russians. Information about this operation was revealed on the "Steel Lions" Facebook page.

"In 2022, they were retreating, and either their engine seized or something else happened, but they left it completely loaded, and they swam away," said the military personnel.

The Ukrainian troops did not learn about the BMP underwater right away: they say they could not see it earlier.

"It was underwater, and no one could detect it: they didn’t see it until the enemy struck the dam. The water level receded, and we discovered this BMP in the summer," added the brigade commander.

According to the soldiers, they planned this operation for over a month. The troops executed about six combat sorties, each taking approximately 30 minutes: they mentioned that they couldn’t allocate more time because the Russians quickly noticed the soldiers and directed drones to target them.

When the military finally reached the BMP, they decided to "trophy" it, although initially their task was to retrieve the "gun." The soldiers insisted: the BMP was worth retrieving as it is quite a "solid machine."

It is worth noting that the soldiers involved in this special operation decided to name the BMP: it is now called "Sea Monster" and will serve the Ukrainian soldiers.

Additionally, Russian troops sunk a BTR and lost their lives while preparing to cross the Dnieper in the Kherson region. This incident became known on January 30.
