The war has pushed Ukraine back a century, stated U.S. Secretary of State Rubio.

Госсекретарь США Рубио заявил, что война вернула Украину на 100 лет назад.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that as a result of the war with Russia, Ukraine has been pushed back a century. He said this in an interview with American journalist Megyn Kelly on January 30.

"Ukraine has been pushed back a hundred years; its energy system is devastated. Someone will have to pay for the restoration of all this. And how many Ukrainians have left Ukraine and now live in other countries? They may never return. This is the future, and it is at risk," he remarked.

According to Rubio, the previous U.S. administration convinced people to believe that Ukraine could "not only defeat Russia but also destroy it," restoring everything to its state of 2012 or 2014, while he believes the continuation of the war is tearing Ukraine apart.

"We are funding a deadlock, a prolonged conflict, in which Ukraine is destroying itself and losing more and more territory," Rubio stated.

The head of the U.S. State Department noted that it would be difficult for Volodymyr Zelensky to make concessions to resolve the conflict, but he must "accept the reality of the situation."

He reiterated the call to end the conflict in Ukraine and expressed the view that each side will have to make sacrifices to achieve its cessation during negotiations.

It should be noted that the American Enterprise Institute stated that the U.S. must consider the cost of Ukraine's loss. It will cost American taxpayers an additional $808 billion beyond what the U.S. has planned to spend on defense over the next five years.
