In Dnipro, a repeat car thief fled from the police (VIDEO).

The police in Dnipro have apprehended a suspect for the illegal acquisition of a local resident's vehicle. This was reported by "Vidomo," referencing the Main Directorate of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

On Sunday, November 24, patrol officers received a notification regarding the unlawful takeover of a VAZ car in the Central district.

On the morning of November 25, thanks to the "Safe City" cameras, the patrol officers spotted a vehicle matching the description on Kryvorizka Street. It was heading towards Rabochaya Street while violating traffic rules.

The police signaled the driver to stop; however, he ignored the request and accelerated instead. Later, the man behind the wheel came to a halt, exited the vehicle, and attempted to flee on foot. He was pursued and apprehended using handcuffs and physical force. The officers called in an investigative task force to the scene.

It was revealed that while under house arrest for a similar crime, the man had stolen the vehicle near one of the buildings on Lesya Ukrainka Avenue.

On November 25, investigators informed the suspect of his charges under part 1 of Article 289 (illegal acquisition of a vehicle) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He faces a potential sentence of up to 5 years in prison for the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
