A man in the Khmelnytskyi region avoided mobilization, claiming that "buses did not run" to the territorial recruitment and social support center. He explained his failure to appear at the designated time in the summons by stating that he had no means to arrive and expected that the TCK staff would pick him up. The Teofipol District Court sentenced him to 6 years of imprisonment in a ruling dated November 18 designated as punishment.
The ruling indicates that the citizen underwent a military medical commission in April. Due to his health status, he was deemed fit for military service and was handed a summons, which obligated him to report to the collection point at the district TCK and SP, from where he was to be sent to a military unit.
The defendant did not appear at the TCK at the designated time and stated in court that TCK employees allegedly "promised to come and pick him up," and that he had no means to get to the collection point himself because "the buses do not run." The serviceman who issued the summons noted that no one had promised to come for the citizen, and he was explained when and what he needed to bring to the RTC and SP upon receiving it.
The conscript partially acknowledged his guilt.
The court found him guilty of evading military service and imposed a sentence of 4 years in prison. The judge's decision was explained by the fact that the man "is characterized as mediocre at his place of residence," and his correction "is impossible without isolation from society."
Additionally, the ruling noted that in March 2024, the citizen had already been sentenced to five years in prison under part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for causing severe bodily harm. He was released from punishment with a probation period of two years.
The unserved portion of the previous sentence was added to the new ruling, resulting in a total of 6 years of imprisonment for the man.
Recall that on December 30, the media reported who among the conscripts would not be able to obtain a deferment in January 2025. In particular, it could be annulled in case of providing false information or failing to fulfill obligations for caring for a child or a person with a disability, on the basis of which the deferment was issued.
On December 28, a video circulated online showing a military man breaking a car window at a checkpoint. The National Police of the Kyiv region confirmed that the conflict involved TCK staff and law enforcement officers, explaining that the driver refused to provide documents and ran over the military man from TCK, causing him to break the window.
