In the Bozhkov Correctional Colony No. 16, located in the Poltava region, inmates were tortured and killed. This was reported by the press center of the State Bureau of Investigations.
According to the SBI, an organized group operated within the facility. Its members mocked and beat the inmates. Almost all newcomers became victims of these criminals. New arrivals were threatened and beaten until they agreed to follow any instructions from the facility's administration. There is documented evidence of one inmate's death due to the injuries sustained.
"Through meticulous work, investigators managed to establish not only the facts of abuse and beatings but also actual murders of inmates, where the brutality of torture resulted in death," law enforcement noted.
From the moment of arrival at the colony, each convict underwent a strict intake procedure, during which newcomers were forced to clean the floor while this process was recorded on video. In case of refusal, they faced torture: beaten with hands, feet, rubber truncheons, sticks to various parts of the body, arms were twisted, and so on. Among other things, there is documented evidence of over 200 blows inflicted on one of the inmates.
"Five officials of the State Institution 'Bozhkov Correctional Colony (No. 16)' have been informed of new suspicions under Part 3 of Article 28 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (organized group), Part 2 of Article 127 (torture), and the actions of the leader of the organized group have been additionally classified under Part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional serious bodily injury). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 10 years," the SBI added.
Recall that recently in the Poltava region, a worker of the TCK was shot while accompanying mobilized individuals. The murderer has now been apprehended.
