In Mykolaiv, vegetable oil has leaked into the Southern Bug River due to debris from a drone. Efforts to pump it out are still ongoing.

Due to the debris from a UAV falling on the night of December 28, a storage tank containing vegetable oil at an agro-industrial facility in Mykolaiv was damaged. This resulted in an oil leak onto the surrounding area and into the Southern Bug River.

This was reported on Telegram by the mayor of Mykolaiv Aleksandr Senkevich.

"To address the aftermath, sorbent boom barriers have been allocated from Mykolaiv's material reserve, which specialists from the 10th platoon of the State Emergency Service have locally installed in the areas contaminated in the water body," Senkevich wrote.

"All these days, specialists have been pumping out the oil. So far, they have extracted 25 tons. The work is ongoing," he added.

According to him, there is no significant negative impact on the environment, as the oil is of organic origin.
