On Monday, November 18, news broke about a new scandal in Poland involving Ukrainian citizens. According to human rights advocate and activist Elena Tereshchenko, Polish border guards detained a 6-year-old boy. He was accused of passport forgery, reported the human rights activist and public figure Elena Tereshchenko.
She stated that the boy was traveling to the United Kingdom for three days with peers — they were supposed to visit London as part of an excursion. During a check, the border guards discovered that the child had circled the entry stamp with a pen on one of the pages of his passport.
As a result, his passport with a British visa was confiscated right at the border.
"The Polish authorities claim — you forged the stamp. Although the authenticity of this stamp can be easily verified in the computer system, and I have the same stamp in my passport. There are no grounds for confiscation. The stamp is not fake, the passport is not fake. The passport is the property of Ukraine, especially since it has a valid UK visa. His group was already at the airport, preparing to board the plane. The child, who has just turned 6, has been crying continuously for several hours," — said Elena Tereshchenko.
Subsequently, the woman reported that the situation at the Polish border was resolved. She explained that the Polish side tried to have them sign a document stating that the boy and his parents voluntarily left their passport and released the Ukrainians, but they missed their flight to London.
"The child was in incredible despair; they bought new tickets, but again faced issues at the airport during passport control, as the Polish customs marked the passport pages in red and made an entry in the overall system," — the woman recounted.
She added that after the scandal in Poland, they were eventually able to fly to London, and despite the red marks in the passport, there were no issues at the British border.
The incident involving the young Ukrainian was not commented on by the Polish border service on their website.
Recall that in Poland, Poles demanded a confession of espionage from a Ukrainian. He was tortured for this.
