The Rada has initiated the official process to dismiss Energy Minister Galushchenko. What are the reasons behind this decision?

The decision to initiate the dismissal process for Galushchenko from his position was triggered by a heated exchange with deputies concerning the construction of the 3rd and 4th units of the Khmelnytsky Nuclear Power Plant. Members of the "Voice" party outlined the reasons why the minister should be removed from office.

A group of people's deputies has initiated the official process for the dismissal of Ukraine's Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko. This was reported by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak from the "Holos" faction in his Telegram channel.

The politician notes that his colleague from the parliamentary faction, Inna Sovsun, along with other lawmakers, has registered a resolution for the dismissal of the current energy minister. Among the key reasons for this decision are corruption in the energy sector, neglecting calls to attend sessions of the Rada and committees with investigative commissions.

Zheleznyak adds that significant reasons for this decision include the "large-scale nuclear construction" scheme, as well as the failed efforts to protect energy infrastructure and the "absolute loss of any reputation among partners." The deputy also points out that the "behavior of the minister during the hour of questions to the government" is completely unacceptable.

"Our faction will do everything to ensure that the next session of Parliament begins with a report from the still-minister Halushchenko on corruption in the ministry, in accordance with the parliament's decision, which he has been ignoring for several months," the politician wrote.

Previously, Zheleznyak wrote about the conflict between his colleague Inna Sovsun and Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko. According to the transcript of the Verkhovna Rada session from January 10, in response to a question from MP Inna Sovsun regarding the lack of support for the conclusions of the European Commission and the USA on the construction of the 3rd and 4th blocks of the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant, the head of the energy department said the following:

"Regarding the position of mid-level clerks from the European Commission representation, Inna, I’m very sorry that you’re running around embassies and slandering our energy sector and our state."

In response to Minister Halushchenko's statement, MP Sovsun wrote on her X that she does not "run around," but rather "works within her authority," and added that "it is not the corrupt minister of the ministry to tell me how to work."

"I remind you that several months ago, Halushchenko was summoned to the council to report on corruption in the Ministry of Energy, but he still hasn’t done so. I am preparing a resolution for Halushchenko's dismissal," the politician wrote.

Earlier, it was reported that the head of the Ministry of Energy urged Ukrainians to prepare for a difficult winter. The Minister of Energy predicts that the Russian Armed Forces will continue to shell energy facilities, so it is necessary to diversify risks.

Subsequently, it became known that Ukraine is preparing for the cessation of Russian gas transit starting January 1. The head of the energy department, Halushchenko, stated that Ukrainian authorities do not plan to conclude a new gas transit contract after the beginning of 2025.
