The electricity blackout schedules in Ukraine may be canceled by the end of the week. This was reported by Serhiy Nahorniak, a member of the Ukrainian Parliament from the "Servant of the People" faction and a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy and Housing and Communal Services, during a broadcast on "Kyiv 24."
"I hope and believe that by the end of the week, our energy specialists will manage to do everything possible and impossible to ensure that Ukrainians have electricity 24 hours a day," he emphasized.
According to the MP, several factors may influence this decision. Firstly, it is crucial for the cancellation of schedules to consider whether there will be sunny weather in the country and whether renewable energy sources will provide additional generation capacity. In this scenario, solar power plants could add up to 1 gigawatt of capacity to the grid, allowing for savings on electricity during daylight hours.
"Therefore, the main influencing factors will be: sunny weather, the outdoor temperature, whether our consumption will increase or not, and whether attacks on energy infrastructure will continue, as we see that 'Shahed' drones are effectively flying in every day," added Serhiy Nahorniak.
Recall that on November 18, due to a massive attack from Russia, electricity blackout schedules were implemented in Ukraine. As of November 20, these measures have been limited to a single queue of outages lasting 3-4 hours.
Additionally, in several regions, the blackout schedules have been completely canceled. Specifically, they will not be in effect in Lviv, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Rivne regions.
