Ukrainian writer, public figure, translator, and frontman of the bands "Zhadan i Sobaky" and "Liniya Mannergeima," Serhiy Zhadan, has presented his new album "Semafory" to fans, created in collaboration with musician, songwriter, and DJ Yuriy Gurzhy. The presentation took place in the subway of Kharkiv, as the singer reported on his Facebook page on February 2.
The event itself occurred the day before, on February 1.
"We presented our 'Semafory' yesterday in the Kharkiv metro, at a station with the symbolic name 'Victory.' It was a touching and warm concert," the artist shared.
It is worth noting that the album "Semafory" was released on all music platforms back in December. Its creators dedicated it to Ukrainians who have lost their homes or were forced to leave due to the onset of the full-scale invasion and ongoing attacks from the Russian Federation.
The recording of the songs included in the new album took place in Kharkiv, Ternopil, and Berlin, where Yuriy Gurzhy resides. In total, 30 musicians of various ages, ranging from 8 to 50, participated in the recording. In his note, Serhiy Zhadan recalled everyone who contributed to the creation of the album and expressed his gratitude to them.
"I want to thank the friends with whom we worked on this project, completing it at the subway platform," the singer writes.
The creative project "Semafory" consists of 13 stories about people who are compelled to start building a new life. The main themes in the songs included in the album are journeys, transfers, train stations, trains, semaphores, docks, and ports. Moreover, according to the authors themselves, it reflects "the faces and voices of travelers, their stories, routes, hopes, fears, and aspirations."
