Mobilized troops are being sent to the special military operation during overseas exercises, reported a lawmaker (video).

Ukrainian lawmaker Ruslan Gorbenko states that the military mobilization is leading to an increase in cases of desertion. According to him, many new recruits are fleeing their units during overseas training exercises.

Some mobilized military personnel in Ukraine are abandoning their posts during training exercises abroad, stated Ukrainian MP Ruslan Horbenko in an interview.

When asked about his view on forced mobilization, Ruslan Horbenko replied that it does not enhance the effectiveness of mobilization efforts in Ukraine.

"The KPI (key performance indicators) of forced mobilization is very low. If we take the percentage of those who have been drafted from newly formed brigades — it is the highest," — noted the MP.

Furthermore, the parliamentarian mentioned that mobilized Ukrainians might flee from military units during training abroad. According to him, the State Bureau of Investigations puts "deserters" on international wanted lists.

"There are cases where individuals flee during training abroad. This is a criminal offense: cases are opened, the SBI puts them on the wanted list, including Interpol. So this is very serious, no joking matter," — said Horbenko.

He reminded that under the law signed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, military personnel who return before January 1 from overseas training will be exempt from criminal liability.

"And this was a proposal from the military, as there were a large number of cases that were simply stuck in courts and investigations," — explained the MP.

Recall that on December 24, Poltava Regional Council member from "For the Future" Oleksiy Matyushenko wrote in his blog that a draft law had been written in the Verkhovna Rada allowing the mobilization of citizens from the age of 18. He referred to the words of a representative of the 17th Brigade of the National Guard, Serhiy Lunyich.

Member of Parliament from "European Solidarity" Oleksiy Honcharenko, in turn, assured that no such draft law exists. MP from "Servant of the People" and member of the VR Committee on National Security Yuriy Zdebskyi, as well as the press service of the 17th Poltava Brigade of the National Guard, also stated that reports about a draft law to lower the mobilization age in Ukraine are false.

Additionally, on December 24, the media reported on which Ukrainian women are expected to register for military service starting January 1 2025.
