Elderly couples peacefully sleeping at home: two married pairs died in Sumy, according to the prosecutor's office (photo, video).

On the night of January 30, the Russian Armed Forces attacked Ukraine using drones. One of the enemy drones struck a high-rise building in Sumy. The Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office reported that they are conducting an investigation into the military crimes that resulted in casualties.

According to the investigation, Russia employed methods of warfare prohibited by international law. Approximately at 00:20, the enemy targeted a 10-story residential building in a residential area with a drone.

As of 8:00 AM, it was known that a 74-year-old man and his 69-year-old wife had perished. Efforts were underway to recover the body of another victim from the rubble.

The number of injured from the attack has reached 9 people, including an 8-year-old girl. Two apartment buildings and 23 vehicles were damaged.

Later, the prosecutor's office reported the death of another couple — a 65-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman. In total, the death toll has reached 4 individuals.

President Volodymyr Zelensky reacted to the strike on Sumy. He extended his condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased.

"A terrible tragedy, a horrific Russian crime. It is crucial that the world does not pause in its pressure on Russia for this terror. I am grateful to all leaders who express support for Ukraine and Ukrainians," Zelensky stated.

It is worth noting that during the night, air defense forces were active in the Kyiv and Odesa regions, with explosions heard in the capital. The Sumy City Council reported that an 18-year-old young man is in serious condition. According to the Regional Military Administration, a total of five injured individuals were hospitalized.

On January 30, police and the Security Service of Ukraine announced the dismantling of an espionage group that was preparing a series of terrorist acts on behalf of enemy intelligence services. Their first victim was a 54-year-old volunteer from Odesa.
