People's Deputy Alexander Dubinsky, currently held in a Kyiv detention center, announced his candidacy for the presidency of Ukraine. He made the announcement on his Telegram channel.
"I, Alexander Dubinsky, born in 1981, a native of Kyiv, declare: I am running for the office of President of Ukraine," the message states.
Dubinsky emphasized his belief that he would win in the first round of the elections and shared several points from his "electoral" program.
Furthermore, if he wins, Dubinsky promised to hold a nationwide referendum to address the following issues:
"If the people decide to abolish the presidential power, I am ready to step down the same day," Dubinsky stressed.
The deputy also stated that the current president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, is doing everything possible to prevent elections, allegedly using "bribes, threats, and criminal cases" to achieve this.
"This is not just a coincidence — it is a scenario for usurpation of power. It is clear that after eliminating all opponents, Zelensky will want to declare himself the winner without a vote. If this happens — the war will continue, and Ukraine will cease to exist as an independent country. Remaining silent now means prolonging the war for another five years, until 2030. This is unacceptable," Dubinsky noted.
Recall that on January 8, the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) reported that Alexander Dubinsky would be tried for organizing the illegal departure abroad of a relative.
Earlier, media outlets reported that Dubinsky, along with former deputy Andriy Derkach, were preparing a press conference on behalf of the Russian GRU. A witness claimed that Derkach, Dubinsky, and former prosecutor Konstantin Kulik conducted an event aimed at discrediting the Ukrainian government and U.S. President Joe Biden.
