A Ukrainian teenager from an orphanage near Kherson, who was taken to Russia, has committed suicide. Before his death, he expressed that he felt unwanted. This was reported by Vazhniye Istorii.
The body of 18-year-old Alexander Yakushenko was discovered by construction workers. He had hanged himself near a house.
The incident had not been publicly known. The head of the foster family, Alexander Lukashenko, mentioned that Sasha Yakushenko hanged himself just a few kilometers from his new home—his body was found by workers heading to their shift in the morning.
When asked about the reasons for the teenager's suicide, who had lived in his home for nearly a year, Lukashenko replied: "How would I know why? He was 18 years old, he was a legal adult. He was just living with us."
Meanwhile, the young man's friends revealed that shortly before his death, Sasha sent a voice message to them, discussing his experiences with the foster family.
"I’m not needed there. They made that clear to me. I ruin everyone’s lives. I can’t take it anymore; I will hang myself. If I weren’t here, no one would have any problems, if I hadn’t come here," — this was part of his last message to friends.
Until the fall of 2022, Sasha Yakushenko and seven other children lived in a family-type orphanage in the village of Tokarevka near Kherson. During the occupation, he was taken to Russia. The young man ended up in a foster family in the Krasnodar region.
It is worth noting that as of December 2, nearly five million internally displaced persons have been registered in Ukraine. Only 29 thousand people have returned to their previous places of residence.
