Ukrainians in Poland faced cruel treatment from fellow countrymen, being forced to eat sand and enter icy waters.

In Poland, the police have detained two Ukrainian citizens for abusing their compatriots. The young men, aged 19 and 20, face a potential prison sentence of up to 12 years. This information was reported by trojmiasto.pl.

The incident occurred a few days ago in Sopot. A 27-year-old Ukrainian citizen reported an assault to the police. According to his account, four masked men broke into his rented room at night. They beat him and a friend who was present, threatened them with a weapon, and forced them to leave the premises.

Subsequently, the attackers took the victims to the beach, where the abuse continued. They forced them to eat sand, drink water, and enter the cold sea. The assailants were armed with a pistol and confiscated two phones and two chargers from the victims.

Investigators found that the assailants' actions aimed to coerce one of the victims into repaying a debt of 8,000 zlotys.

Days after the attack, law enforcement conducted an operation and apprehended two suspects in Gdańsk. They seized a pistol, a mask, cash, and stolen items from them.

Both suspects were interrogated and charged with robbery, use of violence, and extortion. The court decided to remand them in custody for three months.

Two additional attackers are still being sought.

According to Polish law, such crimes can result in a prison sentence of up to 12 years for the offenders.

Additionally, it is noted that in Poland, the money transfers of Ukrainians back home have been investigated. Generally, the funds are sent by citizens who have stable employment or engage in entrepreneurship.
