In Kryvyi Rih, a man hid cannabis in sports shoes to smuggle drugs to inmates in a correctional facility (PHOTOS).

Law enforcement officials have put a stop to the activities of a 40-year-old man who organized the illegal distribution of narcotic substances in one of the correctional facilities in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The scheme devised by this criminal element was not uncovered immediately, and considerable time and effort were required to apprehend the offender. This information was reported by "Vідомо," citing the Dnipropetrovsk police.

The investigation began due to suspicious activity surrounding one of the correctional colonies, particularly a series of packages sent by the same sender.

Investigators suspected that these packages might contain illegal substances. To verify this hypothesis, a decision was made to conduct a controlled delivery of one such package.

Upon opening it, investigators discovered sports shoes that concealed a significant amount of cannabis. An examination confirmed that the substance found is indeed a narcotic.

During the interrogation, the detained individual admitted his guilt and provided detailed information about his drug distribution scheme.

On January 24, investigators informed the suspect of the charges under Part 2 of Article 307 (illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, mailing, or distribution of narcotic substances, psychotropic substances, or their analogs) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
