In Kryvyi Rih, a godfather promised a woman he would rescue her husband, who was defending the country, but by that time, he had already died. On January 27, the perpetrator was sentenced in the Central City District Court. This was reported by "Vidomo" citing "Svoї. Kryvyi Rih".
According to the victim, her husband went missing while on a combat mission in August 2023. The godfather convinced her that he had connections in the special services and could secure her husband's release for a fee. She had to go into debt, believing she was saving her husband. By March 2024, the woman had transferred him between 50,000 and 100,000 hryvnias. It later turned out that he was a gambler and might have debts. He even threatened her to keep her silent.
The man was found guilty on two counts of the Criminal Code:
He received a sentence of 6 years in prison, along with the confiscation of property. Additionally, he was ordered to pay over 1 million hryvnias in material damages and 100,000 hryvnias in moral damages to the woman.
