In Marganets, a vandal has been apprehended for desecrating the memorial of fallen heroes (PHOTO).

A vandal has been found in the city of Marganets, who desecrated the memory of Ukraine's Heroes by damaging and stealing flags that were placed in the Taras Shevchenko square by the families of fallen defenders of the country. This information was reported by "Vidomo," citing the Marganets City Council.

The act, which became public knowledge a few days ago, sparked outrage and attracted the attention of law enforcement agencies.

Operational investigative measures were conducted to identify the perpetrator. Within a short period, the suspect, a local resident of Marganets, was identified and apprehended.

During a search of his apartment, police discovered material evidence—approximately 150 flags. The findings were almost identical to the items that had been stolen and damaged in the square, providing irrefutable proof of the suspect's guilt.

Investigators informed the man that he was a suspect in the case of desecration of a state symbol (part 1 of Article 338 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Pre-trial investigations are currently ongoing.
