A theft occurred in the city of Verkhndniprovsk in the Kamensky district of the Dnipropetrovsk region. A 21-year-old young man, taking advantage of the trust of his acquaintance, stole nearly 30 thousand hryvnias. The incident ended with a criminal case and the detention of the suspect. This was reported by "Vydomo" citing the police of the Dnipropetrovsk region.
The victim, who approached law enforcement, explained that he had asked his acquaintance to buy groceries, providing him with his bank card and PIN code. The man trusted his acquaintance, considering him to be a reliable person.
Instead of purchasing food, the young man exploited the opportunity given to him and, throughout the day, repeatedly withdrew money from the victim's bank card at various ATMs in Verkhndniprovsk, after which he disappeared. The total amount stolen was a significant sum—almost 30 thousand hryvnias.
Realizing the scale of what had happened, the victim immediately contacted the police. He detailed the circumstances of the incident, providing all known information, including the identity of the suspect. As a result of the conducted measures, the 21-year-old young man was apprehended.
The police gathered evidence of his guilt—footage from surveillance cameras near the ATMs and witness testimonies.
A criminal case was initiated against the detainee under part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft committed on a large scale) and part 1 of Article 357 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal seizure of vehicles, if this action does not contain signs of a crime specified in part two or three of this article).
The suspect is currently in custody.
