The municipal enterprise "Directorate of Road and Transport Construction of Kyiv" has announced a tender for the design and construction of the first phase of the access road to Kyiv Airport (Zhulyany), with a total cost of 1.56 billion UAH, according to data from the Prozorro system. Journalists from the publication "Our Money" have taken note of the tender.
According to the project approved in September 2023, the 4.3 km road will connect Lobanovsky Avenue to the airport, which is currently not operational due to the war. The first phase of construction includes a 2.8 km section featuring two lanes in one direction, a bike lane, sidewalks, wastewater treatment facilities, an overpass, and traffic lights. Modified asphalt concrete is planned for the surface. Completion of the works is expected by mid-2026.
To participate in the tender for the design, companies must demonstrate experience, possess the necessary equipment, and have qualified personnel. Construction companies are required to have their own production bases, an asphalt concrete plant, and machinery, as well as an annual income of no less than 467 million UAH. Applications for participation will be accepted until November 14.
The second phase, covering the remaining 1.5 km of the road, was commissioned in the fall of 2023 to private companies "PKF Standart-Auto" and "KP Shlyakhbud Invest" for amounts of 1.22 million UAH and 135.94 million UAH, respectively.
The airport road project was initiated back in 2010 as part of the preparations for Euro 2012. At that time, the work was entrusted to the company "Ukratomenenergo" for 174 million UAH, but the project was not completed by 2012 and has since been revised and re-funded multiple times.
